Guiding Principles

Our Mission:

Art’s Cafe is a gathering space. We inspire, restore, and build community through food and art.

Guiding Principles

FOOD –

  • At Art’s you will discover & delight in honest and flavorful food.
  • Our menu is built around four pillars: Soup, Sandwich, Bread, & Beverage
  • Every detail matters and we are always pushing ourselves to make our food better.
  • We care about where our ingredients come from.
  • Our purchases support practices that are good for workers and the planet.  We build relationships directly with suppliers that share our values. We source from growers who can connect us to foods that taste amazing and connect us to the soil and the seasons.
  • How we make your food matters. We learn about traditional methods of food preparation. We are creative with the resources available to us and seek to minimize waste.

BUSINESS –

  • We are owned and governed by workers, community members and a non-profit, Springville Center for the Arts.
  • We support a triple bottom line – people, planet and profit.
  • We involve the community in the vision for the cafe.
  • We make a profit by creating really good food. We share that profit with workers, members, and community arts programs.

WORK –

  • Art’s is a fulfilling place to work. We work to create a place where members of our team are happy to be every day.
  • We have well defined areas of responsibilities, but everyone can be relied upon to step into each others roles when necessary.
  • We invest in our employees and help them grow and learn. We support educational opportunities outside of the Cafe and we create opportunities within our space.
  • We spend time reflecting, evaluating, visioning and planning.
  • We are focussed on always improving.
  • We respect and care for each other. We smile and laugh together.

THE ART’S CAFE EXPERIENCE –

  • Visitors become part of the story of Art’s. We love to share the history of our food, our community and our programs.
  • Every person involved in Art’s Cafe takes responsibility for making a guest’s experience a positive one.
  • Our customers are owners. We value their feedback and input.
  • Art’s Cafe is a source of rejuvenation through educational programs, a dynamic event or just a quiet, restorative meal. Coming here makes you better.
  • Our space is beautiful, clean and inviting.
  • We create experiences.

COMMUNITY –

  • We give back to our community, nurturing and supporting the growth of the arts in particular. We dedicate a portion of our space, energy and finances to workshops and community events.
  • We have a commitment to making downtown Springville a more vibrant place.
  • Every decision we make has ripples, and we want our ripples to be positive ones.
  • We minimize waste wherever we can. We recycle and compost. We donate unsold food that we can’t re-incorporate into our menu.
  • We support businesses and producers that share our values.
  • We act as a role model and leader within the greater community to impact changes
